Please note: Creator-Desktop keys can only be activated against Tableau Desktop version 2018.1 or newer. In case you need to update your software, you can do so here. If this doesn’t apply to you, please provide the first 12 digits of the key, along with a screenshot of the error message you’re receiving (as an attachment to your email) and submit your inquiry to our Customer Support team.

Yes, all subscription keys change when they are renewed. They differ from a perpetual license in this aspect. All subscription customers are encouraged to use the “Assigned To” field on the customer portal in order to track their keys. Once the key changes, the “Assigned To” field remains the same allowing to easily keep track of keys and users.
However, there is an easy way to avoid having to manually activate a renewed key. If a subscription key’s renewal is renewed before the key expires, you can refresh their maintenance within the product. See instructions here. The product will then update to the new key without needing to type in the new key.
If you renew a key after the subscription has expired, you will need to enter the new key into the product to activate once again. Refreshing the key in the product will not work after a key has expired.
You will see the new key in the customer portal after you renew.

These step-by-step instructions will show you how to pull a report on your keys from within the portal.

To assign a key to a new user, a portal administrator can follow the instructions here. To re-assign a key, first deactivate the key from its current machine. Those Instructions are here. Then, the portal administrator can assign the key to the new user by following the instructions here.

When you purchase multiple eLearning registrations, you will receive one key for the specific number of registrations purchased.
