20 days to Tableau success
UPDATE: The Starter Kit now has a permanent home. Please check there for an expanded and up-to-date version of the viz in this blog post.
When I joined Tableau's Product Marketing Team in January, I immediately sat down and asked myself "How can we make it easier to learn to use Tableau Desktop?" Getting basic familiarity with the product shouldn't be a daunting experience. Thus the Starter Kit was born.
Have you downloaded Tableau but don’t quite know where to start? Tried a few things but don’t yet know what you don’t know? Look no further; the Tableau Desktop Starter Kit is here to help.
This Starter Kit leads you through a multimedia introduction to Tableau over the course of four weeks. (Go on — click around!) In about 30 minutes a day, you’ll be guided through a process involving:
- watching videos
- reading whitepapers and articles
- surfing the forums
- trying your hand at some vizzes
Not everyone learns the same way, so we’ve picked a variety of learning modalities, from visual to hands-on to joining conversations in the community. We even send you outside the Tableau website to get pumped about data visualization with Hans Rosling’s TED talk.
By the last day, you’ll have experienced a wide variety of the website and the product’s offerings, and you’ll have a solid understanding of what Tableau Desktop can do. Remember, the starter kit is only the tip of the iceberg. The resource guide provides a launching point to continue your exploration of Tableau.
So what are you waiting for? Get started now.
