About
Scott Sherman is a Software Engineering Architect at Tableau. He studied Math and Computer Science, and was Top 500 in the nation in the Putnam exam. Before Tableau, he designed and built an architecture for supporting browsers in low-capability handheld computers. He built the first version of many Tableau features, including essential tools such as dashboards, highlighting, and the start page. He designed the architecture used to migrate desktop functionality into the browser. Scott holds multiple patents on the UI for interacting with web pages on small screens. He designed the first vector format designed for the web and designed and built a CAD system. Scott has filed patents around expanding VizQL to relationships and connectors. Scott is currently working on creating languages for seeing and understand data that involves connections and user intent.
