Celebrating Black History Month with the new Equity Task Force Gallery
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of the Tableau community. In celebration of Black History Month, we are excited to launch the Tableau Public Community Equity Task Force Gallery curated and led by our Community Equity Task Force a group of twelve diverse voices from the Tableau Community, focused on fostering equal representation and removing barriers so that all in our community can be successful in their Tableau journeys. (Find out more about the Taskforce and its members!)
Dedicated to elevating and enhancing the Tableau Community’s commitment to equity, the Task Force wanted to find a way to showcase the work being published by the #DataFam on these topics every day. As a group, they curated more than 50 visualizations into categories based on the themes that emerged including “Race,” “Gender,” “Health,” “Education,” “History,” “Media,” “Sports,” and even “Mental Health.”
“The categories really emerged on their own,” says Task Force member Sarah Bartlett, Senior Data Visualisation Consultant and Tableau Zen Master from Slalom based in the United Kingdom. “As we started putting together a list of our favorite vizzes about equality, we saw certain categories repeated and that’s when we decided to break the vizzes out by theme.”
“The visualizations we chose showed a broad range of creative approaches,” adds Abisola Oni, Product Specialist & Tableau Zen Master from Paystack based in Nigeria, another Task Force member. “We looked for subject matter more than anything else.”
We invite you to dive into this gallery—and don’t forget to “favorite” the visualizations that inspire you!
Help us keep striving for equality, inclusion and equity through data all year long by nominating visualizations that could be part of the Community Equity Task Force Gallery here. Thank you for your support and participation--we’re excited to see all the inspiring visualizations that you’ll create!
