Meet the 2024 Tableau Public Ambassadors
Tableau Ambassadors teach and share while fostering a positive and supportive space within the data community. They give credit where credit is due, and prioritize inclusivity in everything they do. They shine a spotlight on new voices, innovative ideas, and make the communities around them better. Tableau Ambassadors serve one-year terms in one of seven branches: Forums, User Groups, Student, DataDev, Public, Social, and CRM Analytics.
What do Tableau Public Ambassadors do?
Tableau Public Ambassadors showcase the power of Tableau Public. They help deliver on Tableau Public’s mission of making data stories a part of everyday life and ensuring the Tableau community is a place to connect and grow. They also provide feedback to help improve the product and create an inclusive space for the DataFam by welcoming data viz newcomers, designing astounding visualizations, sharing tips and tricks, and telling data stories that inspire and teach others.
Tableau Public Ambassadors regularly post vizzes to their Tableau Public profiles (check this awesome Tableau Public Author tracking visualization, made by community member, Josh Tapley) and share supplemental content that teaches new data visualization techniques, shortcuts, and best practices to the larger data community. They may also be highly engaged with Community projects—these are data initiatives that help community members practice their data skills across a variety of topics, products, and causes. Tableau Public Ambassadors are often founders, leaders, and multi-project participants.

Consultants, data or business analysts, designers, business managers and many more professional backgrounds across different industries make up this year’s cohort. Meet the entire 2024 Tableau Public Ambassadors cohort. We also connected with a few ambassadors to hear more about what being a Tableau Public Ambassador means to them.
Tim Ngwena, Colchester, Essex, United Kingdom
“Being a Tableau Public Ambassador means having the chance to engage more deeply with the community that has shaped my journey. It’s about sharing knowledge, fostering creativity, and inspiring others to explore what’s possible with data & tableau of course. I feel privileged to be part of such a talented and passionate group of people, and I’m excited to continue learning from them.”
Tim is a Consultant at Aimpoint Digital. His first version of Tableau was version 7 back in 2014. Since then, he’s consulted and trained a range of clients across a range of sectors. He runs a YouTube channel that shares Tableau explainers and when not using Tableau, he’s a proud dad to three kids, husband, F1 fan who also fancies himself as a creator, gamer, podcaster and drone hobbyist.
Victor Muñoz, Colombia
"Being an ambassador is special to me because I can continue sharing my journey and the knowledge I’ve gained on the platform with others, especially those new to the field or transitioning into data visualization, just as I did. With less than two years of experience using Tableau, it’s been an amazing tool for learning best practices, starting a freelance career, and making a positive social impact."
Victor is an Information Designer who creates data-driven solutions for small businesses. With a background in Information Security, he specializes in transforming complex information into clear, actionable insights and guiding clients through informed decisions. As an active volunteer with Viz For Social Good, Victor contributes to closing the analytics gap for mission-driven organizations. His interests lie in projects that promote positive social impact, ensure security and privacy, and prioritize personal well-being.
Louis Yu, Singapore
“I've always enjoyed learning and teaching others and being an Ambassador amplifies that. As much as I share my expertise and knowledge, I learn equally as much from the community too and they have been extremely welcoming, nurturing and simply kind to everyone. It has been an amazing journey from knowing nothing about Tableau to be able to help inspire the next generation of data wizards.”
As part of the Visual Analytics team in 2K Games, Louis develops numerous dashboards to enable insights for many of their games catalog. Within the #datafam community, he co-leads the #GamesNightViz project as well as the Singapore Tableau User Group. His passion for data visualization is augmented by his achievements as featured author and qualifying for Top 15 in #IronViz 2023. Ever ready to give back to the community, he started #SecretsOfTheViz in YouTube to decipher the intricacies of the amazing #VizOfTheDay awards.
Gbolahan Adebayo, Lagos, Nigeria
“Being a Tableau Public Ambassador is a superpower. A few years ago, I discovered Tableau Public, was wowed, and promised myself to try as much as possible to build amazing stuff and wow others as well. Now, I can fulfill this promise not just to myself but to many other people out there who could potentially discover amazing things Tableau Public could offer to their careers and personal lives. Imagine going from a little part of Nigeria to having a platform to inspire around the world. It certainly means the world to me!”
Gbolahan is a Data Visualization Developer at MAGNiTT. He has used Tableau for over 3 years for work and fun. He is a Tableau Public Ambassador for ’23, a 2x winner of the Vizzies: 'Biggest Growth’ ('23) and 'Notable Newbie’ ('22), and has received 6 #VizoftheDay nominations on Tableau Public. Outside of Tableau, he loves Manchester City and spending time on Pinterest.
Kayla Swain, San Diego, California, United States of America
"What I love most about being an ambassador are the opportunities to talk with newcomers about all of the resources available to help jumpstart their Tableau journey. So many ambassadors have been pivotal in my own journey, and I love being able to pay that forward!"
Kayla was introduced to Tableau during graduate school and quickly became interested in the platform’s ability to communicate data with a compelling narrative. Working with Tableau combined a love for numbers with the opportunity to explore data in a creative way. Kayla joined Tableau Public to help grow her design skills. She was a 2022 Featured Author and is a 2-time recipient of Viz of the Day. She is also a co-lead for the San Diego TUG. Kayla is a BI Analyst at a healthcare startup focused on value based care. In her role, she is excited to see data-driven decisions help improve the lives of Medicare patients across the country. Outside of work, Kayla enjoys attending concerts and practicing her DJ skills.
Zsófia Nika, Budapest, Hungary
"I’m honored to be part of this amazing cohort, I think it is a great milestone of my data viz journey. I have always seen the Tableau Ambassadors as a source of inspiration and new ideas so it also means a great responsibility that I’m happy to take. I find it exceptional how welcoming and supporting the Community is, so I really enjoy being an active part of it and sharing my knowledge and experience to a greater audience."
Zsófia is data visualization expert based in Hungary. After joining Starschema’s dataviz team in 2022, she started building her Tableau Public portfolio and joined the DataFam. She actively participates in #MakeoverMonday, #B2VB and Iron Viz. Zsófia is also a content creator for The Viz Collective blog. While her job is to develop insightful dashboards for clients, in her private portfolio, she is more focused on the design and experimenting with Tableau’s features and capabilities. Besides work, Zsófia is passionate about running, traveling, and classical music.
How do you become a Public Ambassador?
While there is no secret formula to becoming an Ambassador, there are a few things most Tableau Public Ambassadors have in common.
- They are highly engaged with Community members on Twitter and Tableau Public. They are welcoming, proactive, and strive to help the DataFam find answers to their Tableau Public questions.
- They keep their Tableau Public profiles fresh by adding new data visualizations often.
- They elevate the work of our diverse community by continuously shedding light on new Community members and their work. They do this by nominating vizzes for Viz of the Day or authors for Featured Authors.
- They are kind, curious, and creative as they are always coming up with new ways to help, inspire and give feedback to the DataFam such as Viz Office Hours, community-led projects, and more.
- They ask good questions and offer help. This may include collaborating with the Tableau Public Dev team to provide feedback and advocate for new features. It could also include helping those in the DataFam who are working with Tableau Public and stuck on a particular challenge or looking for the most efficient way to achieve something.
