Christina Gorga, Ashburn, Virginia, United States of America
“I look at being a Social Ambassador as a recognition that Tableau understands the value of every person in this community and wants them to succeed in anything they set their mind to doing. I have been able to meet other people doing cool things with data all over the world that I would otherwise not have the chance to without the broad reach that the community has for inclusive resources, events, and the platform.
I encourage others in the community to champion individuals making a difference, whether that’s by creating new user groups, sharing tiny tips, or just being open to giving feedback. By learning and sharing knowledge with others, we all get to where we want to be."
Christina Gorga is a data strategist and technical talent enablement lead based in Northern Virginia. She found her way into data visualization following a career journey in cognitive science. Christina advocates for individuals switching careers into data, especially working mothers through the #MomsWhoViz community and the Data Career PathMakers transition program. She is also a moderator of the Women in Data Viz community. She was the 2018 Michael Cristiani Community Founders Award winner. Christina is the co-founder and co-lead of the monthly #DataFamCon community challenge which celebrates pop culture data. At the core of her beliefs is that diversity in backgrounds and education enhances the data visualization field, and in turn, increases public awareness for science and critical social issues. In her spare time, she enjoys consuming science fiction in all media formats, golfing, mid-century design, and collecting vinyl.

How do you become a Social Ambassador?
While there is no secret formula to becoming an Ambassador, there are a few things most Tableau Social Ambassadors have in common.
- They are highly engaged with Community members on social and digital channels. They are welcoming, proactive, and strive to help the DataFam with Tableau and data related content.
- They keep their social or digital profiles fresh by creating and amplifying new content often.
- They elevate the work of our diverse community by continuously shedding light on new Community members and their work. They do this by sharing the profiles and work of new DataFam content creators and regularly share to Tableau Follow Friday on Twitter.
