401ks and the Financial Crisis

James Pilcher of the Cincinnati Enquirer does not take data journalism lightly. Over the past year he compiled the 401k performance of every company with a qualifying plan in southwestern Ohio. His findings were not surprising: more and more corporations are cutting contributions. Take a look at a visualization of his data below:

Click on the "Select a Measure" bar on the top right to select a different metric to view, like Net Value or Percent Participation. You will notice if you select Change in Net Value that only 6 plans were positive in 2008- luckily things have turned up since then!
