Data Culture conversation with data leader and Tableau ambassador David Pires

People are at the heart of any thriving Data Culture, including the Data Leadership Collaborative (DLC). The DLC connects like-minded leaders along the journey to creating data-driven organizations. 

In our conversation series with DLC community members, we sat down with longstanding Tableau Ambassador and co-lead of the London Tableau User Group David Pires to discuss the importance of empowering everyone across the business, from an analyst to a senior stakeholder, to have a voice when it comes to using and evangelising the power of data.

David is passionate about welcoming newcomers to the data community—from helping them with the tools needed to succeed to connecting them with others across the globe. 

The inaugural Iron Viz winner at Tableau Conference in Europe, David has been using Tableau since 2015 and believes that data itself does not give us the answers. Rather, says David, we must think critically and be curious about what we are really trying to achieve with the given data. David finds liberation when he is able to help organizations advance in their missions by digging into problems and using data to solve them.

David became a Tableau Ambassador in 2016 after spending time connecting with the community and sharing his knowledge. He values diversity, inclusion, and ethics in data—and believes it’s not only important to bring people from diverse backgrounds together, but also to make sure that everyone has a voice and can contribute.
