Jared Knowles

Dr. Jared Knowles is the president of Civilytics Consulting. He founded Civilytics to help elected officials, community advocates, non-profits, journalists, and philanthropies access and analyze geospatial, Census, and administrative data and budget records, and present that local data in regional and national contexts with long-term trends. He has read, analyzed, and collaborated with grassroots organizers on more than 30 city and county budgets in the past year and has trained more than 100 people across the country to read and engage with their local budget. He also provides an array of consulting services including statistical computing, research design, and public data analysis. He has expertise in machine learning, multilevel modeling, and geospatial modeling. He formerly served as a research analyst with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and holds a PhD in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
