DataFam Roundup December 16-20, 2024
Welcome! Dig into this week's DataFam Roundup—a weekly blog that brings together community content all in one post. As always, we invite you to send us your content—and the DataFam content from your peers that have inspired you! Find the content submission form here.
Note: There will be no DataFam Roundup on December 27th, and we'll be back in the new year with more incredible Tableau community content!
Community Highlight
To recognize new and consistent Tableau contributors—we’re excited to have a section within the weekly DataFam Roundup called the Tableau Community Highlight. Find out how to get involved.
Bryan Bastin, Tableau User
Tennessee, United States
Bryan uses Tableau at work and to assist in his coverage of the NHL’s Nashville Predators. He got started with Tableau in his former job where there was a need to visualize health data. However, since the data was company confidential, Bryan began to instead use hockey data to learn Tableau, as he was new to the sport, and by using online learning resources and connecting with other members of the community who also visualize sports data. His visualization work on Nashville Predators data allowed him to get picked up by the website “On the Forecheck” to officially cover the team using data visualization.
On Tableau Public, Bryan visualizes Nashville Predators games, as well as career and league metrics. He appreciates that these projects allow him to combine two of his passions: data-driven storytelling and watching sports. Since beginning with Tableau five years ago and using hockey data to learn the tool and learn more about the National Hockey League, he has covered over 100 games as a credentialed reporter, the NHL draft, and had two day jobs using Tableau as an analyst.
Connect with Bryan on Linkedin, X, and Tableau Public.
