Grant licence on sign-in
We're making it easier to optimise your organisation's seat investment, extending the value of Tableau to more users. Site admins can now designate members – specific individuals, teams and departments, or even your entire organisation – to be automatically granted a site role (Viewer, Explorer, Creator) upon their first time logging in to their Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server account. Deploy Tableau at scale without having to manually respond to licence requests, and quickly scale up when needed.

SAP HANA connector improvements & new SAP certifications
For our SAP HANA connector, users now have the ability to connect to table functions (stored procedures that return a table). We have also achieved official SAP Certification (HANA-BI-SQL 2.0) for integration with SAP HANA on Tableau Desktop, Prep, Server and Online. Read our new Tableau and S/4HANA analytics white paper for guidance and best practices around S/4HANA integration, and how to optimise the experience of using Tableau and S/4HANA together for analytics.

Watch nowAll features
Tableau Mobile for Workspace ONE (iOS)
Tableau Mobile for Workspace ONE is an update to the existing app that provides a quick and secure way to view, analyse and leverage the data in your organisation. The new app, compatible with iOS13, includes a newer design that is faster and more intuitive, an improved search and browsing experience consistent with Tableau Server and Tableau Online, as well as enhanced offline capabilities that are quick to load and offer richness and interactivity for visualisations.

Relationship improvements
Create relationships between tables in your data source with more flexibility. You can now relate tables based on custom calculated fields, like concatenated fields or date truncation, and inequality operators. Additionally, we've improved the drag-and-drop experience in the data model.

Spatial file union
Analysing spatial data just got easier – you can now union two or more tables that contain spatial field types in Tableau. With the spatial file union, combining unique geographies within the same administrative level, or working with geographic events from different periods of time, are both made simple. For example, you can now easily union and explore multiple tables with wildfire boundaries from 2017, 2018 and 2019, without having to leave Tableau.
Query marks selected via row or header
For the marks selection event, when a user clicks on a column or row header, the marks in that column or row are selected and will now return correctly when querying the selected marks in the API.
NullOptions in applyRangeFilterAsync
When applying a quantitative filter to a field or a date, you can pass fields into the applyRangeFilterAsync method to control advanced filtering options. One of the options is NullOptions and you can now indicate what to do with null values when applying the filter.
Tableau Server installation pre-check
To ensure a smooth installation and upgrade experience, Tableau Server now automatically performs a set of checks as you start the initialisation/upgrade process. These checks are designed to detect common errors and issues (around permissions, credentials, base ports) that can arise during upgrade and install. You can also perform this check at any time with the TSM command. Today, this capability is for Windows, but we are working to bring it to Linux soon.

Ask Data improvements
Make your data even more approachable with new improvements to Ask Data. Modify the default query suggestions with colloquial language that is easier for people across your organisation to understand. Additionally, you can now use absolute date filters and access onboarding and curation resources directly from the product.

Predictive modelling functions
New prediction functions go beyond the existing trendline analytical function to build a model that understands how your data is distributed around a best-fit line. MODEL_QUANTILE is a table calc that returns a target value at a specified percentile, based on other predictors. MODEL_PERCENTILE is a table calc that returns the probability of the expected value being less than or equal to the observed mark, based on other predictors.

Grant role at sign-in
We're making it easier to optimise your organisation's seat investment, extending the value of Tableau to more users. Deploy Tableau at scale without having to manually respond to licence requests, and quickly scale up when needed.
New connectors in the Extension Gallery
Customers looking to connect to data sources beyond Tableau’s native connector list can now find connectors in the Tableau Exchange, built by partners like Qubole, Dremio, Yellowbrick and SQream.
