Tableau Named a Leader in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Analytics and BI Platforms
For over two decades, we’ve been on a mission to help everyone see, understand, and act on their data. Our commitment to realizing this mission doesn’t waver as we continue to innovate for you, our customers, partners, and community. The next generation of Tableau is being built to bring insights to everyone and make AI actionable, delivering on the current wave of data and analytics.
We’ve continued delivering more functionality to help you get more value from your data, including over 140 new features across Tableau Server, Tableau Cloud, and Tableau Desktop in 12 months, with more to come for Tableau Prep and beyond. Many features were inspired by the Tableau Community, currently over 4 million members strong. All of you push us to continue making Tableau for everyone—regardless of where you store your data, your level of data skills, or where your organization is on their AI journey.
Gartner® published the 2024 Magic Quadrant™ for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms. Tableau has been recognized as a Leader in this category for our 12th consecutive year.

How Tableau brings insights to everyone
Over the history of data and analytics, there have been three waves of data and analytics. We’re currently in the third wave of consumerization. In this third wave of consumerization, AI has changed how users consume data and insights. More and more people want access to data, including people who aren’t analysts. People want data in different ways, like on their phone, embedded in different places–and people want it in real time. They also want AI to drive insights with the ability to interact with data in ways they haven't been able to do before.
And organizations are feeling the demand for insights, with 81% of companies feeling the urgency to implement AI across their business. But there is a major challenge: many companies lack a data strategy, with 59% of leaders lacking a unified data strategy. Your AI success hinges on how well you handle your data strategy–and how you build and maintain a strong Data Culture. Part of a successful Data Culture is equipping teams with tools that make data-driven insights more accessible to people across industries, roles, and analytics skill levels. We are lowering the barrier to entry by making insights accessible to everyone with new product innovations leveraging the Einstein 1 Platform.
- Tableau Pulse reimagines the data experience for Tableau Cloud customers, delivering personalized, contextual, and intelligent insights wherever you are. Rather than opening up a visualization and taking the time to connect the dots, you get insight summaries right in your flow of work. You can keep tabs on your most important metrics and dig into the details that matter to you. And it’s all seamlessly integrated into Tableau Mobile, making Pulse–quite literally–AI in your pocket.
- We also have Einstein Copilot for Tableau (ECT), which is an intuitive conversational AI assistant that enables everyone to be a data expert. This tool uses AI to streamline the data preparation and visualization process, helping you accelerate your speed to insight. It’s for everyone—from seasoned analyst, to people just starting their analytics journey. Einstein Copilot for Tableau provides step-by-step guidance, helping new Tableau users jumpstart their data exploration.
- Tableau Desktop Public Edition allows for local file saving for free. It enables you to seamlessly build and iterate on visualizations with an intuitive drag-and-drop experience and dynamic previews. You can vsualize public and private data, create and securely save visualizations where you are, without requiring an internet connection. Once you’ve finished your visualization, you still have the opportunity to share your work with the DataFam by publishing to your Tableau Public profile.
While we’ve made significant progress, we still reach only a fraction of all the people who can benefit from data. Over a billion knowledge workers across organizations can’t get value from data or insights for better, smarter decisions. There’s a lot more to be done to achieve our mission.
The future of data and analytics will be marked by increased automation, personalization, and contextual insights in the flow of work. Tableau began a journey to bring people closer to data. Now more than ever, we're committed to leading the next evolution of AI and analytics by making insights available for everyone.
