View Data Model Enhancements
Be aware of how Tableau data models are used within a viz or worksheet, and which tables supply data to which pills in the viz. If a complex calculation is used within a pill, hovering over the pill highlights the participating tables in the View Data Model - confirming the logic's correctness. Diagnose and evaluate your analysis right in your flow of work, and avoid the swivel-chair process between worksheet and data source tabs.

Tableau Prep: Spatial Calculations and Joins
Tableau Prep now supports the following spatial calculations in the calculation editor: MakePoint, MakeLine, Buffer, Distance, Area, Intersects, Length, Outline. Users now have the flexibility to configure a spatial join between two geometry data types to generate location points and regions of interest in Tableau Prep as they have in Tableau Desktop.

This will make it easier to isolate faults and allocate resources effectively, resulting in far fewer flow failures due to memory constraints.

The new connector improves performance and security, enables self-service analytics directly from S3 storage, and eliminates dependency on the deprecated Web Data Connector.

Custom OAuth for Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint Online in Government Cloud
Connect to Excel and text files in Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint Online using a Custom OAuth configuration. By registering a dedicated Entra application for Tableau Desktop or Tableau Prep and configuring OAuth, Azure Government (GCC/GCCH/DoD) admins can bypass former connectivity barriers. This enables secure, compliant access to document libraries that were previously inaccessible, ensuring mission-critical data is available for analysis.

Tableau Bridge: Client Status in Activity Log
Gain deeper enterprise-grade monitoring with the new bridge_client_status event type in the Tableau Activity Log. This update provides a continuous audit trail by recording exactly when a Bridge client disconnects or reconnects, plus a daily "heartbeat" log every 24 hours. This added observability allows teams to track client health over time, troubleshoot downtime faster, and maintain high availability for data connections.

Tableau Bridge: Cancel PDS Jobs
Expand control over data operations. Admins can now cancel long running or stalled Bridge PDS extract jobs, mirroring functionality already available for Virtual Connections and embedded extracts, Tableau Prep flows, and non-Bridge data sources. This new capability can increase Bridge client efficiency by reducing the number of job failures due to capacity constraints.
